Minardi delivers on pre-season promises

Paul Stoddart announced in Melbourne that he would be testing a variety of drivers in the course of the season and the Australian is to deliver on that undertaking with Australians Will Power and Will Davison, Portugal's Tiago Monteiro and Russian pay-driver Sergey Zlobin all due to run later this year.

There will probably be others as well as the team looks to finding a stronger driver line-up in 2005. Neither Zsolt Baumgartner nor Gianmaria Bruni has truly shone this year but because of its lack of budget Minardi has had to take drivers with money and unless a big sponsor can be found for next year it is likely to be the same story. Minardi might be lucky and end up running a young hope for one of the other teams - the obvious examples are Renault's Franck Montagny and Toyota's Ryan Briscoe - but otherwise could end up in a similar situation to this year. Paul Stoddart is not expected to start making decisions about drivers until late in the autumn.
