MCLAREN out-paced Ferrari for the second consecutive day at Mugello on Wednesday as the teams' respective test drivers went head-to-head.

Olivier Panis powered his McLaren around the Mugello circuit in one minute and 25.966 seconds to beat his Ferrari counterpart Luca Badoer by nearly five-hundreths of a second.

Badoer, who focussed on the general set-up and tires of two F1-2000 Ferraris, clocked a fastest lap time of one minute and 27.014 seconds. Badoer completed a total of 81 laps, two more than Panis.

"We have completed all the work we planned for today," said Ferrari test team chief Luigi Mazzola. "Luca Badoer will be joined by Michael Schumacher tomorrow."

David Coulthard will also make an appearance for McLaren on Thursday, as the championship's two top drivers face each other for the first time since their battle in the French Grand Prix.
