McLaren in Menorca
The local press thought that our stories about McLaren testing in Menorca were an April Fool, despite the fact that we first mentioned the test in January. On Tuesday the ferry delivered three liveried McLaren tracks which headed for the Sant Luis aerodrome, where they were joined by around 40 mechanics who had flown into Mahon for the occasion.
The team is now doing several days of aerodynamic mapping tests up and down the runway. The venue was picked after the local authorities refused to allow F1 teams to test as much as they used to at RAF Elvington in Yorkshire.
The arrival of the team caused little excitement amongst the local, who are famous for their relaxed - some might even say sleepy - lifestyle.
