The FIA has published an open letter to the European Union on the subject of the European Arrest warrant, pointing out that the Formula 1 teams have not woken up to the European Arrest Warrant too late but were involved in a series of meetings with the EU in an effort to sort out the problem last year. This was not successful.

"This is not the first time that a Commission spokesperson has sought to damage the FIA," Mosley said. "On the last occasion, action in the European Court of Justice resulted in a formal public apology from the Commission. In the circumstances, I think it appropriate to send a copy of this letter to Mr. Prodi."

Romano Prodi is the European President.
