BRITON Darren Manning is prepared to wait for his chance in Formula One and believes another year as British American Racing test driver could benefit him.

Manning, who wanted a full drive for the 2001 season, will continue as official tester with the Brackley-based outfit and he admitted it could help his prospects of a drive.

"We were kept in the dark for a little while but it is nice to know I've got another year," Manning said. "I had hoped to get a full drive this year but I'll settle for another development year.

"Formula One has been my aim forever and I feel I could have done a job this year. It wasn't to be but I intend to get a drive next year and this could help me achieve that."
