Nokia Tyrrell Yamaha is about to announce a major switcharound of personnel with team manager Rupert Manwaring switching to the marketing department after five years in the job. Manwaring will work alongside Bob Tyrrell, son of team founder Ken, trying to find more money for the team which has suffered a lack of cash in recent years. Manwaring has considerable F1 experience, dating back to 1977 when he joined the Surtees F1 team as a spares man and van driver. We went on to become assistant team manager at Surtees before moving to Brabham, the Kraco Indycar team, Carl Haas's FORCE F1 team and ultimately Lotus, where he became a team manager for the first time. Manwaring's place as Tyrrell team manager is to be taken by Steve Neilson, who is currently at Benetton but was previously at Tyrrell for four years and before that worked with Manwaring at Lotus.
