Life becomes a little easier for F1 truckers

It is more than three years since a murderous fire killed 39 people in the Mont Blanc tunnel between France and Italy.

IT is more than three years since a murderous fire killed 39 people in the Mont Blanc tunnel between France and Italy and ever since the Formula 1 truck drivers have had to do considerably more travelling than used to be the case to overcome the closure of the seven-mile tunnel which goes beneath the Alps. The tunnel reopened to smaller vehicles in May but yesterday the first trucks were allowed through again.

Time is an important element in the movement of F1 equipment around Europe and the reopening of the Mont Blanc tunnel will save a lot of time for teams going backwards and forwards to and from Italy. Ferrari will probably gained the most...
