Jean-Jacques His returning to Renault Sport

JEAN-JACQUES HIS, who was one of the leading lights in Renault Sport's successful engine supply program in the 1990s is to return to Renault Sport to head the company's Formula 1 program in 2002. His has spent the last couple of years as the manager of the Renault production engine design division but it seems that he is keen to get back to the sport and will take over the role which was previously held by Bernard Dudot. This will be a major boost for Renault as His is one of the most respected engine designers in Formula 1. He has been with Renault since 1972 and was head of research and development at Renault Sport between 1984 and 1986. He then moved to Ferrari where he oversaw work on the Ferrari V6 turbo, the Indycar V8 turbo and the 3.5-liter V12 F1 engine. In mid-1988, however, he returned to Renault Sport and then worked on the Renault V10 engines until the company withdrew from F1 at the end of 1997.
