The event is being held to give race-starved South Africans a thrill and to raise money for Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and the Unite Against Hunger charity.

The current driver line-up for the event includes Johnny Herbert, Marc Gene, Nicolas Kiesa, Gianmaria Bruni, Bas Leinders and South African rising star Alan van der Merwe. There will be eight two-seater Minardis in South Africa and they will take part in back-to-back 10 lap races. The events will be supported by a number of other racing activities in the course of the three-day festival. Previous Minardi events which help to bring F1 closer to the people have been huge successes.
