Indianapolis - an answer shortly...
TONY GEORGE and his staff at Indianapolis Motor Speedway are waiting to hear within the next few days whether Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone will agree to sending the Grand Prix circus to Indiana in the year 2000.
According to reports in the United States Ecclestone is keen on the idea and is trying to tie up a deal which will link the Grands Prix in the Americas at the end of the year. From 1959 onwards F1 used to have an autumn tour of the USA, Canada and Mexico, which traditionally took place in October. This continued until the late 1970s.
