Amid fresh speculation linking the former Red Bull boss with Aston Martin, Germany's Bild now reports Horner has been invited to Silverstone by Formula 1 and the FIA.

Formula 1 has been waiting for one man for a year - Christian Horner, correspondent Michel Milewski wrote.

According to information obtained by Bild, the former Red Bull team principal and CEO has been invited by Formula 1 and the FIA to attend the Grand Prix at Silverstone as a guest.

Milewski added that final confirmation of his attendance is still pending, but F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem are assuming it will happen.

The green light has turned back on, Bild reported.

Horner is allowed to go full throttle again - and he's doing just that.

The report says Horner's paddock restriction, agreed as part of his Red Bull departure package, expired at the end of May.

Is Horner back? Yes and no, Milewski wrote.

He was never really gone. Despite being banned from the paddock, the Briton maintained his contacts.

Horner's future remains the subject of intense speculation, with Aston Martin again linked in recent days, while other reports have connected him with Alpine, Chinese manufacturer BYD and a potential future twelfth Formula 1 team.
