Heidfeld quickest in second day of testing at Barcelona
NICK HEIDFELD recorded the quickest time for his new Sauber team in the second day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona on Tuesday.
German Heidfeld, who joined Sauber from Prost at the end of last season, set a best lap of one minute and 20.132 seconds in the morning session.
Heidfeld set the quickest time despite spending most of the day practicing starts on new Bridgestone tires.
Jordan driver Jarno Trulli was second quickest with a best lap of one minute and 20.207 seconds, but the Italian driver was unable to come out in the afternoon when his Honda engine failed.
Rubens Barrichello was third quickest in his Ferrari, fractionally ahead of David Coulthard in a McLaren. Coulthard was the fastest driver in the afternoon but could not better Heidfeld's time.
Jacques Villeneuve returned to the cockpit of his British American Racing car and recorded the fifth quickest time. BAR also represented by young drivers Takuma Sato and Mark Hynes.
Another young driver also took to the track as Antonio Pizzonia completed his test with Arrows, but he was left down in ninth place in the times.
