Renault has announced that it will test both third driver Bruno Senna and Nick Heidfeld in the R31 at Jerez over the coming weekend.

There has been much speculation as to who will replace the injured Robert Kubica in what looks as though it could be a front-running car, and Heidfeld's experience has turned him into a leading contender for the seat.

With F1 teams due to begin a four day test at Jerez tomorrow, Vitaly Petrov will drive on Thursday/Friday and the team will confirm the running schedule for Senna and Heidfeld at a later stage.

Genii boss Gerard Lopez has said that a decision on Kubica's replacement will only be made after testing - probably both Jerez and Barcelona on February 18-21 - and it seems as though Renault will thoroughly assess both Senna and Heidfeld, and possibly Tonio Liuzzi, before making a final decision

Heidfeld, who replaced Pedro de la Rosa at Sauber after last year's Italian GP, himself lost the seat to new signing, Sergio Perez, long time prot©g© of new team sponsor Telmex. It is thought that Liuzzi will be included in Renault's Barcelona test schedule.
