Gene re-signs as Williams test driver

Spaniard Marc Gene has re-signed with Williams and will continue as the team's test driver for 2003. Gene has been looking to return to a racing role since he left Minardi after the 2000 season, but the driver market is currently flooded with young stars all looking for their shot, and Gene had no opportunities for 2003.

Williams has been pleased with Gene's work over the past two years, working as the team's number one test driver. This year, he has completed over 18,000km of testing for the team. "I am delighted to have Marc working with us for another season," said Frank Williams. "He is a tireless worker who is well attuned with the way we operate. The job that he has done so far for our team has contributed significantly to our performance on track and Marc's continued support will be necessary if we are to fulfil our aspirations to return to a winning position."
