Gascoyne on the way to Jordan
MIKE GASCOYNE, Tyrrell's deputy technical director, is expected to move to Jordan Grand Prix shortly to take over as technical director from Gary Anderson.
Gascoyne, a former McLaren and Sauber engineer, has been talking to a variety of teams in recent weeks because there is no obvious role for him when Tyrrell closes down and British American Racing takes over running Reynard chassis.
The deal is yet to be finalized and in Montreal everyone involved was playing their cards very close to their chests. Anderson was not present, the team announcing that Gary is not to attend either the Canadian or the French GP because of an intensive windtunnel program which is underway in an effort to improve the performance of the Jordan-Mugen HondaÊ198.
Anderson has been the key figure in building Jordan into a force in F1, although he seems less comfortable running departments rather than leading a small group of designers as he used to do.
