CART and IRL may still be in conflict in the United States but as the entry list for the Indianapolis 500 closes there are four CART teams which have decided to take part in IRL's biggest event. Team Green is to run a Motorola-backed operation for Michael Andretti while Penske will run cars for Helio Castroneves and Gil de Ferran and Target Chip Ganassi Racing will return to the Speedway with Nicolas Minassian and Bruno Junqueira, hoping to repeat Juan Pablo Montoya's victory last season.

The fourth CART team expected to appear at Indianapolis is Walker Racing which will be fielding a car for 20-year-old rising star Sarah Fisher. Fisher has been one of the leading lights of IRL this year along with 21-year-old Sam Hornish Jr, who currently leads the series.
