Firman waits to see

Ralph Firman goes out today for testing at Indianapolis and will see whether or not the problems he has been suffering with an imbalance in his inner ear has gone away when he drives a Formula 1 car.

Firman says that the problems appear to be solved but remains cautious after seeing what happened to Ralf Schumacher recently at Monza when the German driver found that he was not well enough to drive his Williams-BMW despite feeling beforehand that he would be up to the job.

The FIA medical teams have been pushing hard for the introduction of new concussion testing techniques to make the process more scientific but has met some resistance from drivers.

Firman crashed at high speed six weeks ago when the rear wing fell off his Jordan at the Hungaroring.
