A fire broke out early this morning at Ferrari's headquarters burning several prototype cars in development at the Maranello production site. Firefighters are still at the scene which is located near Ferrari's test track site at Fiorano.

"We intervened at around 1 a.m. (0000 GMT)," stated an official from the local fire department. "A hangar in the experimental section containing several car prototypes was burning. The fire is now under control."

A spokesman from Ferrari said no one was injured and work on the prototypes had previously been assigned to another factory. He said the damage was only extended to some prototype cars and equipment.
