Ferrari president insists Prost and Sauber will be treated equally

FERRARI president Luca di Montezemolo has insisted that Prost and Sauber will both be treated equally when they receive the Italian team's engines next season.

FERRARI president Luca di Montezemolo has insisted that Prost and Sauber will both be treated equally when they receive the Italian team's engines next season.

Sauber were powered by Ferrari engines last season and now French team Prost has signed a two-year-deal to be supplied with Ferrari power-units from 2001.

Ferrari are in the process of expanding their Maranello base to cope with the supply to Sauber and Prost and Di Montezemolo suggested neither team will be neglected.

"Both teams will be treated equally," said Di Montezemolo. "They will both receive the same engines of the 049B type."

The Ferrari president added that he hoped his team's engines would improve the form of Prost, who finished last in the constructors' championship in 2000 as they failed to score a point.

He added: "I hope Alain (Prost) will have a much better season next year."
