Ferrari on display in Bologna

SCUDERIA FERRARI put on a show for the fans at the Bologna Motor Show with test driver Luca Badoer again demonstrating the F2001 in front of an estimated 40,000 fans. He did a series of practice starts, some doughnuts and there were also a number of simulated pit stops to keep the crowd amused.

Badoer will be joined this year by a second test driver Luciano Burti and says that he gets more satisfaction helping Ferrari to win than he would do racing with a mid-grid team. Badoer admits that he would like to be a Ferrari F1 driver but he was passed over a couple of years ago when Michael Schumacher was injured and the team called in Mika Salo to take over until Schumacher was fit again.

In the recent past several Ferrari test drivers have ended up racing for the team, notably Gianni Morbidelli who stood in after Alain Prost was fired in 1991 and Nicola Larini who replaced Jean Alesi when the Frenchman was injured in 1994.
