Falcon Cars, the American attempt to take on Dallara and GForce in the Indy Racing League which was being put together by former F1 men Mike Kranefuss and Ken Anderson has failed to sell any of its cars for this season - at least to date - and it is now reported that the company is being forced to lay off some of its staff in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Falcon was granted a licence to build IRL cars last year and produced its prototype Indy 01 chassis last autumn but has not been able to find a team willing to take a risk and run the new car.

It is anticipated that if some customers cannot be found, the firm will sell its licence to rival Lola Cars which is keen to break into the IRL.
