CHRISTIAN ESTROSI, who is the French Republican party's spokesman on national security issues, has suggested that if the Republicans are elected to power in June next year the party will create a new ministry for national security which will link together the various forces of law and order, including the police, the gendarmerie (which is a military organization) and the powerful customs division. Estrosi is likely to be named for that role.

Estrosi raced in the European Formula 3 Championship back in the early 1980s, at a time when the likes of Eddie Jordan and Gary Anderson were in action in the series. Eddie will no doubt find it useful to have a friendly politician in France!
