Elsewhere in the racing world

While the F1 men were in Hungary there was action elsewhere in the world over the weekend with the annual BP Ultimate Masters of Formula 3 extravaganza at Zandvoort, NASCAR at Indianapolis and Formula Nippon at Autopolis.

In Holland victory went to the dominant ASM team with team mates Paul di Resta and local hero Giedo Van der Garde finishing 1-2, separated by 0.4sec. Third place went to Mucke Motorsport driver Sebastien Buemi. At Autopolis there was a sizeable first corner incident which took out or delayed most of the frontrunners. Victory went to Tsugio Matsuda (Team Impul) who avoided the trouble and ran a steady race after an early fight with Toshihiro Kaneishi (ARTA). Tatsuya Lataoka (Team Le Mans) was third.

At Indianapolis Jimmie Johnson won in his Lowe's-sponsored Hendrick Chevrolet with Roush Racing's Matt Kenseth behind him. As a result Johnson increased his championship lead over Kenseth. Richard Childress Racing had a good race with Kevin Harvick third and Clint Bowyer fourth.
