Dowe leaves Arrows

TONY DOWE, who switched from the role of operations manager to that of marketing manager at Arrows a few months ago, has quit Tom Walkinshaw's team and is rumored to be returning to the United States of America to work for Panoz Motor Sports in Atlanta, Georgia.

TONY DOWE, who switched from the role of operations manager to that of marketing manager at Arrows a few months ago, has quit Tom Walkinshaw's team and is rumored to be returning to the United States of America to work for PanozÊMotorÊSports in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dowe has been involved with TWR for 10 years having helped to establish TWR Inc. in Valparaiso, Indiana, in 1987. He ran the Castrol Jaguar IMSA sportscar program, a program which resulted in three victories in the Daytona 24 Hours in 1988, 1990 and 1992. Dowe also ran the Le Mans 24 Hours-winning Jaguar driven by Martin Brundle, John Nielsen and PriceÊCobb in 1990.

Dowe worked in F1 in the 1960s and 1970s but went to the United States in 1980 to be chief mechanic of the HaasÊCanAm team. He went on to work for the Chaparral team and was team manager of Newman-Haas between 1982-1987.

He moved to France in 1994 to help Walkinshaw run Ligier and then moved to Arrows when Walkinshaw fell out with Ligier owner Flavio Briatore early in 1996.
