Claimant withdraws in McLaren tribunal

Peter Boland, who was employed as a steward on a McLaren executive jet between 2002 and 2007, has withdrawn his case from the Southampton employee tribunal. Boland apologised to Dennis and the team and to the tribunal itself for wasting its time on what he accepted were "unfounded allegations".

Boland said that he was wrong to suggest that Dennis was "either racist or homophobic, or that he ever made any remarks or performed any actions that would suggest that he was".

Boland said he was sorry for the pain he had caused.

This dramatic turn of events appears to have come about because McLaren revealed that Boland's replacement was happily homosexual and was accepted without drama by all concerned, something which his case seemed to have overlooked.
