Big changes for Barcelona

The Circuit de Catalunya at Montmelo near Barcelona, Spain, is currently undergoing major revisions in preparation for the Spanish Grand Prix. The work includes the bypassing of the Nissan Chicane, to create a new straight of 510 meters, which should create another overtaking place for the F1 cars. There will also be extra run-off areas to improve F1 safety.

The rebuilding - which will be completed in seven weeks - includes the construction of a new piece of track just after the bridge on the main straight, to create a short circuit for Spanish national races.
