Sauber test driver Enrique Bernoldi is aiming to use his test in August to secure a drive with the team next year.

Brazilian Bernoldi took part in Sauber's three-day test at Silverstone this week, but he is now ready to intensify his quest for a place on the grid in 2001.

The 21-year-old, who sits 14th in the Formula 3000 championship with Sauber's Junior Team, has a further test with the team in August and is confident he can compete in Formula One.

"I have enough miles behind the wheel of the car for the team to realize my ability," Bernoldi said. "And I am getting much more confidence.

"I've got another session in August, either in Valencia or Mugello, and I plan to use that to show that I can do a job in Formula One next year."
