BAR has lost its appeal against the decision of the German Grand Prix stewards to ban a software-controlled torque-transfer device which the team briefly tried out on Friday at Hockenheim.

"Having heard the explanations of both parties and having examined the various documents and other evidence the court upheld the decision of the panel of the stewards," an FIA press release said.

This is not a surprise as the Court of Appeal rarely overturns decisions made by stewards.

BAR-Honda had made the appeal to establish what is legal and what is not legal because of other possible applications of the rules in other systems in the cars.

Whether or not there are any implications of the decision remains to be seen.
