Vic Wilson

Born in England, Wilson spent his teenage years growing up in South Africa and gained his Formula 1 chance when Dick Gibson, who had injured himself crashing his own Cooper, suggested that Wilson repair the machine and try a race himself. Thus Vic Wilson competed in the 1960 Italian Grand Prix from which he retired. He later raced a Lotus 30 and Ferrari 275LM financed by his rich cousin Bernard White, but there were no more Grands Prix. He died in 2002.
