Sebastian Vettel took pole position for the Turkish Grand Prix in his Red Bull Renault in a last-gasp effort that bounced Jenson Button from the top slot. Rubens Barrichello was third quickest for Brawn. Mark Webber was fourth quickest in his Red Bull, just three-tenths behind his team-mate. It remains to be seen what fuel loads will be revealed later this afternoon but it looks like the race will be a fight between the two teams. Jarno Trulli was fifth fastest in his Toyota ahead of the two Ferraris of Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. The top 10 was completed by Fernando Alonso (Renault), Nico Rosberg (Williams) and Robert Kubica (BMW Sauber).

Vettel was fastest in all three Q sessions but it was close in all three.

Nick Heidfeld will start 11th with Kazuki Nakajima 12th in his Williams ahead of Timo Glock (Toyota), Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren) and Adrian Sutil (Force India).

The big surprise of the Q1 session was the failure of World Champion Lewis Hamilton to get through the first session. He ended up 16th on the grid, ahead of a lacklustre Nelson Piquet (Renault), Sebastien Buemi (again beating his Toro Rosso team-mate by two-tenths), although on this occasion the two were split by the Force India of veteran Giancarlo Fisichella.
