Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time of the Saturday morning session in Istanbul, edging out Ferrari's Felipe Massa by 0.041sec and a tenth faster than Kimi Raikkonen, the second Ferrari driver. Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest in his McLaren but he was four-tenths off the pace.

Nico Rosberg was next up for Williams ahead of the two BMWs of Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica and the fastest of the Renaults, driven on this occasion by Giancarlo Fisichella. He was just ahead of Red Bull-Renault's Mark Webber. The top 10 was completed by the second Renault driven by Heikki Kovalainen.

Alexander Wurz put his Williams 11th ahead of David Coulthard (Red Bull) and the Toyota of Ralf Schumacher, which failed to repeat the pace seen on Friday. Jarno Trulli was next with Jenson Button leading the Hondas in 15th, ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Anthony Davidson.

Tonio Liuzzi was next up in his Toro Rosso, four-tenths fastest than Sebastian Vettel.

At the back were the Super Aguri of Takuma Sato and the two Spykers with Adrian Sutil seven-tenths faster than Sakon Yamamoto on this occasion.
