Kimi Raikkonen grabbed pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix ahead of Mark Webber's BMW Williams and Fernando Alonso's Renault and Ralf Schumachers's Toyota.

The big question as always is what are the fuel strategies for the race and if previous races are any guide, it is likely that if Raikkonen makes a good start and his car is reliable he will be able to pull away from Webber, who will keep the other drivers behind him in the first stint, and thus the Finn should have a big advantage as the race goes on.

Michael Schumacher was not obviously on the pace but will almost certainly have a big load of fuel and will pit late, hoping to pick up places later in the race. However overtaking at Barcelona is a big problem and so we could be in a for an afternoon of close racing along the lines of what we saw in the final laps of the San Marino Grand Prix.

The starting order for the race is Raikkonen from Webber, Alonso, Ralf Schumacher, Jarno Trulli, Giancarlo Fisichella, Juan Pablo Montoya, Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Felipe Massa, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Jacques Villeneuve, Narain Karthikeyan, Tiago Monteiro, Christijan Albers, Patrick Friesacher with Nick Heidfeld and Rubens Barrichello at the back, neither having run in final qualifying in order to save fuel and tyres for the race.
