Practice 2 Report - Vettel quickest in second practice

Second practice in Singapore proved to be a close run thing between the two drivers who fought a race-long battle last year, Sebastian Vettel (1:46.374) and Fernando Alonso (1:46.575).

Vettel's Red Bull proved to be a couple of tenths quicker on Pirelli's supersoft option tyre, while their pace was also close on longer heavy fuel runs.

Lewis Hamilton's McLaren (1:47.115) was third quickest but initial indications are that, as last year in Singapore, McLaren could have a battle on its hands to match the race pace of Red Bull and Ferrari.

Hamilton's McLaren team mate Jenson Button finished down in 10th place, frustrated at missing the last 50 minutes of the session after locking up into Turn 14 and being unable to engage reverse.

Felipe Massa's Ferrari (1:47.120) ended up fourth quickest, ahead of Mark Webber's Red Bull (147.265).

Mercedes came to Marina Bay hoping that an upgrade package would move them closer to the ultimate pace, but Michael Schumacher's sixth quickest lap (1:48.418) was more than 2s from Vettel's time.

Adrian Sutil's Force India (1:48.866) again featured strongly in seventh slot, ahead of the Saubers of Sergio Perez (1:49.578) and Kamui Kobayashi (1:49.730).

Paul Di Resta lost much of his second session to a brake issue, setting 13th quickest time at the end, while Sebastian Buemi missed the last half hour after clouting the Turn 21 wall with his right front in the Toro Rosso, while team mate Jaime Alguersuari was a promising 11th.

Bruno Senna did a good learning job on the Singapore streets, ending the day 0.15s and two places ahead of Renault team mate Vitaly Petrov.
