Practice 2 Report - Red Bull 1-2 in Singapore

Sebastian Vettel served notice of intent when he set the quickest time (1:46.660) in the second session of free practice for the Singapore Grand Prix, ahead of Red Bull Racing team mate Mark Webber (1:47.287).

Vettel was rapidly into the groove in the dry second session and looked spectacular in setting a time on the supersoft Bridgestone that remained unchallenged. Fernando Alonso's Ferrari (1:47.718) was close but failed to finish a lap on which the Spaniard set a first sector best and then a personal best in sector two before going straight on at Turn 18 and ending his session in the escape road 20 minutes prematurely.

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali said: "The track improved in the afternoon but there was a little issue with Fernando's car. After he went straight on he reversed, tried to restart and then something happened. Felipe, meanwhile, was not happy with the grip and general balance. I think Red Bull looks strong but tomorrow it could be a good fight."

Jenson Button (1:47.690) set third quickest time for McLaren Mercedes, beating Alonso's earlier time by two hundredths, while Lewis Hamilton was fifth fastest (1:47.818).

Rubens Barrichello (1:48.302) was a fine sixth with the Williams-Cosworth, four hundredths quicker than Massa's Ferrari, with Nico Rosberg (1:48.679) eighth in the first Mercedes, a couple of tenths up on Michael Schumacher (1:48.889) as the pair were split by Rober Kubica's Renault (1:48.855).

Nick Heidfeld finished his fiorst day back on F1 driver duty in 13th slot, 0.12s down on team mate Kamui Kobayashi who is presently the only confirmed Sauber driver for 2011.
