Practice 2 Report - Yellow fever (well, sort of)

Fernando Alonso hustled his Renault round to the fastest time of the second session in Singapore on Friday night, although his best time did not beat the best lap set in the early evening session by McLaren's Lewis Hamilton. Alonso's speed smacked of a little showboating for Renault as the team has not shown much pace this year and there is no reason to suggest that the car is going to be any better now than it has been at other races.

Hamilton was second quickest in the session with his World Championship rival Felipe Massa third fastest and Heikki Kovalainen fourth in the second McLaren. The second Ferrari driver, World Champion Kimi Raikkonen, was seventh behind both Nico Rosberg's Williams-Toyota and the BMW Sauber of Robert Kubica. Jenson Button continued to show well with the eighth best time ahead of the second Williams of Kazuki Nakajima and the Toyota of Timo Glock. The German ended the session spinning and knocking off the nose of his car in the final seconds of the session.

There were a few spins but no major incidents involving contact with the wall.

Mark Webber made up for his poor start in the first session by setting the 11th fastest time ahead of Nelson Piquet and Monza winner Sebastian Vettel. Sebastien Bourdais was next ahead of David Coulthard's Red Bull, a rather disappointing Nick Heidfeld in the second BMW Sauber. The times were completed by Giancarlo Fisichella, Rubens Barrichello, Jarno Trulli and Adrian Sutil.
