Practice 2 Report - Vettel quickest at Monza

Sebastian Vettel (1:22.839) set the pace in the second session of free practice for Sunday's Italian Grand Prix.

Red Bull Racing team mate Mark Webber (1:23.415) finished the session with sixth quickest time but ended his activity 15 minutes prematurely when the RB6 sprung a water leak just as the Australian started a quick lap on option tyres. The team told him to switch off immediately but it remains to be seen whether any damage had been done to the Renault engine.

The Ferraris finished the afternoon with second and third fastest time, Fernando Alonso lapping in 1:22.915 and Felipe Massa in 1:23.061. The Brazilian survived a hairy moment when he ran wide on the exit of Parabolica and through the gravel trap.

McLaren adopted a split F-duct strategy in the afternoon with Lewis Hamilton (1:23.154) fourth quickest having run without the device and Jenson Button (1:23.210) fifth running with it.

Rubens Barrichello (1:23.708) three times a Monza winner with Ferrari and Brawn, got his Williams-Cosworth round a thousandth quicker than Robert Kubica's Renault (123.709), with Nicos, Hulkenberg (1:24.852) and Rosberg (1:23.857) completing the top 10.

Once again, Michael Schumacher (1:24.448) proved to be short of his team mate's pace, setting 14th best time behind the Force Indias of Adrian Sutil (1:24.181) and Tonio Liuzzi (1:24.380) and Vitaly Petrov's Renault (1:24.407).
