Practice 1 Report - Lewis guns it

Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen set the pace at Monza on Friday morning with an appreciable advantage over the opposition. If that continues throughout the weekend the silver cars will be dominant. Third fastest was the Force India of Adrian Sutil, while his new team-mate Tonio Liuzzi settled in with a time that was 1.2secs off Sutil. Fourth fastest was Fernando Alonso's Renault, ahead of Nick Heidfeld's BMW Sauber and Sebastien Buemi's Toro Rosso. Jenson Button was seventh with new Ferrari driver Giancarlo Fisichella just ahead of Mark Webber's Red Bull and his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.

Robert Kubica was 11th ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Nico Rosberg. The Toyotas were much lower down the order than one might have expected after Spa with Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock 19th and 20th.
