The rains returned to Monza on Saturday morning to disrupt the morning session, leaving teams with little real idea of what to do for qualifying and having to guess set-ups for the race. The times were pretty meaningless again as the rains increased before everyone had gone for a fast time.

The end result was fastest time for Timo Glock in his Toyota, ahead of Sebastian Vettel's Toro Rosso and the Williams of Nico Rosberg. Jarno Trulli was next up in the second Toyota and with Kazuki Nakajima's Williams fifth, the order featured the rather odd situation of four Toyotas in the top five places. This is probably not very significant.

Nick Heidfeld was sixth overall with David Coulthard next and Felipe Massa eighth. Fernando Alonso was next ahead of the two Force Indias of Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil and then the second BMW Sauber of Robert Kubica.

Thirteenth overall was Mark Webber's Red Bull ahead of Nelson Piquet's Renault and the Honda of Jenson Button. Rubens Barrichello followed with Sebastien Bourdais next up, despite a spin. The bottom of the timesheets featured Kimi Raikkonen, Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton.
