Practice 3 Report - Webber on top in final qualifying

After an opening day on which he wasn't too happy, Mark Webber (1:21.550) came back strongly to top the final session of practice ahead of qualifying for the Hungarian GP.

The recent engine mapping controversy and the need to go back a step seems to have done little to hamper the Red Bull pace. Closest to the Australian was Lewis Hamilton's McLaren (1:21.643) which was three hundredths quicker than reigning champion Sebastian Vettel (1:21.671) in the second Red Bull RB8.

Bruno Senna (1:21.876) was an impressive fourth fastest in the first Williams, a hundredth quicker than Fernando Alonso's Ferrari (1:21.884).

Kimi Raikkonen (1:21.953) said he is happier with the feel of the Lotus E20. The team was happy with the data it derived from the new 'double DRS' or 'benign F-duct' rear wing, whatever you care to call it, but the team will not race it at Hungaroring because it doesn't have a compatible front wing. It will most likely be debuted at Spa in a month's time, where it should pay dividends on the Belgian track's long straights.

Team mate Romain Grosjean (1:22.110) was seventh quickest, ahead of Felipe Massa's Ferrari (1:22.136), Paul Di Resta's Force India (1:22.191) and Jenson Button's McLaren (1:22.233). The McLarens have looked particularly strong on the medium 'prime' tyre.

Further down, Mercedes could manage only 17th (Schumacher) and 18th (Rosberg). That could have been connected to fuel load but, if not, one of them could be struggling to escape Q1, with Daniel Ricciardo's Toro Rosso 0.15s quicker than Schumacher.
