Practice 2 Report - Vettel sets opening day pace at Hungaroring

Sebastian Vettel topped the first day of practice for the Hungarian GP, the Red Bull driver lapping in 1:20.087s, just over half a second clear of controversial German GP winner Fernando Alonso (1:20.584).

The RB6s of Vettel and Mark Webber (1:20.587) dominated the session but the Ferrari seemed to gain an extra couple of tenths when Vettel and Alonso switched to Bridgestone's super soft option tyre from the medium compound prime tyre at the end of the session.

Felipe Massa (1:20.986) finished the opening day fourth quickest, 0.4s from Alonso again, while Russian Vitaly Petrov (1:21.195) was well in touch throughout in the Renault. Petrov is currently under pressure to deliver if he wants to keep the second Renault seat alongside Robert Kubica in 2011.

Lewis Hamilton (1:21.308), twice a winner at Hungaroring, is looking to keep his championship lead intact and lapped seven hundredths quicker than Kubica in the second Renault.

Nico Hulkenberg (1:21.623) was eighth fastst in the first of the Williams FW32s, a tenth clear of Jenson Button with the second McLaren (1:21.730), with Michael Schumacher (1:21.773) competing the top 10 in the first of the Mercedes.
