Lewis Hamilton set the pace in the second practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix with a time that was fractionally ahead of his team-mate Heikki Kovalainen and Nico Rosberg's Williams-Toyota. There was then a gap of three-tenths back to Mark Webber and Kazuki Nakajima, with Sebastian Vettel sixth from Rubens Barrichello, Jarno Trulli, Nick Heidfeld and Timo Glock.

Kimi Raikkonen was 11th followed by Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Robert Kubica, Nelson Piquet, Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella. Felipe Massa was 18th and clearly not going as fast as might have been the case, while the order was completed by the Toro Rossos of Sebastien Buemi and Jamie Alguersuari.

There were a number of spins on what is a traditionally dusty track on Fridays but none of these resulted in any serious damage.
