Practice 3 Report - Massa tops the morning session

Ferrari's Felipe Massa was fastest in the final practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix but it is by no means certain that the Ferraris will be ahead when it comes to qualifying. Massa was just two-tenths of a second ahead of Fernando Alonso's McLaren, which was all but matched by World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton. Nick Heidfeld was fourth in the BMW Sauber with Kimi Raikkonen fifth.

Nico Rosberg continued his promising weekend for Williams with sixth position, just ahead of the two factory Toyotas of Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher with the top 10 completed by Mark Webber, the fastest of the Renault-engined cars and Alexander Wurz's Williams-Toyota.

Anthony Davidson continued to show well in his Super Aguri-Honda while Robert Kubica was further down the order than might have been expected having failed to get a decent run. The factory Renaults remained rather slower than expected with Heikki Kovalainen in 13th and Giancarlo Fisichella 17th. This is considerably slower than the cars have normally been and so an improvement is expected this afternoon.

David Coulthard was 14th in his Red Bull ahead of Takuma Sato's Super Aguri and Tonio Liuzzi's Toro Rosso in 16th.

Behind Fisichella was Jenson Button, last year's Hungarian GP winner, and Sebastian Vettel in the second Toro Rosso.

Rubens Barrichello was a miserable 20th ahead of the Spykers of Adrian Sutil and Sakon Yamamoto, the Japanese driver much close to his team-mate having had a night to digest the behaviour of the car.

The stage is set for a thrilling qualifying as Ferrari and McLaren go head-to-head once more.
