Practice 2 Report - Wurz stays ahead

Alexander Wurz continued to set the pace at a cool Hockenheim on Friday afternoon with a lap of 1m13.973s, a full six-tenths faster than his McLaren team mate Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn was a full second clear of Fernando Alonso in the fastest Renault, while Juan Pablo Montoya was just two-tenths of a second slower than the Spaniard in the third McLaren.

Toyota test driver Ricardo Zonta continued to set quick laps with the fifth fastest time ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella in the second Renault and a surprisingly quick Felipe Massa in the Sauber-Petronas. Tonio Liuzzi was an impressive eighth in his Red Bull, which had a less powerful engine than the two race drivers, while the top 10 was completed by Jarno Trulli in his Toyota and Michael Schumacher in his Ferrari.

Jenson Button was a disappointing 13th but was still ahead of the two Williams-BMWs of Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld, while Rubens Barrichello's Ferrari was 16th and Jacques Villeneuve's Sauber 17th. Takuma Sato was also off the pace in his BAR-Honda.

This was slighter better than David Coulthard who went off and ended his session in the sand trap.
