Practice 3 Report - Lewis leads the way

The Saturday morning practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix ended up a rather scrappy affair after a lengthy red flag interlude after Heikki Kovalainen's Renault blew up and left oil all round the track. This meant that while Lewis Hamilton ended the session fastest over all, not everyone had a decent chance to set times.

Hamilton ended up four-tenths of a second ahead of Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari with Fernando Alonso third and Felipe Massa fourth. This was, more or less, business as usual although one would have expected a better showing from the Spaniard.

Fifth quickest was a surprise in the form of Takuma Sato in his Super Aguri-Honda ahead of Nico Rosberg's Williams-Toyota, Mark Webber's Red Bull-Renault and Rubens Barrichello in the fastest of the factory Hondas. David Coulthard was next up in his Red Bull, despite a bone-jarring jump over the kerbs at one point.

Anthony Davidson was just behind DC but ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella's Renault, Jenson Button's Honda and Robert Kubica's BMW Sauber.

Down in the Toyota camp things were not going well with the suspension problems of Friday meaning that the drivers were not able to run over the kerbs as they had previously done. This lost them time and so Jarno Trulli was 14th, ahead of Scott Speed and Ralf Schumacher. Tonio Liuzzi was next up with Adrian Sutil 18th.

Nick Heidfeld was in the wars in his BMW with a flash fire in the engine bay at one point which left him well down the order but still ahead of Alexander Wurz, the troubled Kovalainen, for whom nothing is going right at the moment, and Christijan Albers.
