Felipe Massa (1:49.967) set the quickest time in the second free practice session for the British Grand Prix as rain once again limited running.

Most of the quicker times were set right at the end of the 90 minutes as the track dried slightly, but were still over 3s away from Mark Webber's morning pace.

Second quickest was Nico Rosberg's Mercedes (1:50.744), ahead of Kamui Kobayashi (1:51.395) in a Sauber chassis repaired after his morning off.

Lewis Hamilton (1:51.438) only ventured out with 10 minutes of the session remaining and ended up fourth quickest, ahead of McLaren team mate Jenson Button (1:51.518), another to emerge with just a few minutes remaining.

Adrian Sutil (1:51.738), who always shows strongly in wet conditions, finished up sixth, from Force India team mate Paul Di Resta (1:51.781), Rubens Barrichello's Williams (1:51.992), Sergio Perez's Sauber (1:52.169) and Sebastian Buemi's Toro Rosso (1:52.189).

Webber (1:52.587), quickest in the morning, was again fastest for most of the session but was not out at the end, when track conditions improved. Red Bull Racing team mate Sebastian Vettel also did little running and ended the session in an unrepresentative 18th slot.

Saturday's weather forecast is for light rain, which may again affect the final session of free practice, although qualifying is expected to be dry.
