Rains ruined the Saturday practice session at Interlagos with the weather so bad that for 42 minutes the saftey helicopter was unable to fly. With 18 minutes to go in the session the go-ahead was finally given and the cars went out. The session ended early when Romain Grosjean spun off and hit a barrier. The fastest time of the session went to Nico Rosberg from his Williams team-mate Kazuki Nakajima while Jenson Button was third and Fernando Alonso fourth. Many of the top runners did not set representative times.
