Practice 3 Report - Webber tops final Spa practice

Championship leader Mark Webber finally revealed the Red Bull's potential when he topped the final session of free practice for tomorrow's Belgian GP.

Red Bull admits that Spa, and particularly the next race at Monza, are two venues not particularly well-suited to the strengths of the RB6, although that's less true of Spa than Monza.

Webber lapped in 1:46.106 as drivers enjoyed 45 minutes of dry running before rain again arrived for the last quarter of an hour. The Australian was just over a tenth faster than Lewis Hamilton (1:46.223) and, as expected, the McLaren and Red Bull were displaying advantages in different parts of the Spa lap.

The McLaren, with its Mercedes engine and well-developed F-duct, was quickest in sectors one and three, with Webber's Red Bull almost half a second faster through the twisty but high speed sector two.

Sebastian Vettel was third fastest (1:46.396) after aborting his final option tyre lap, with Jenson Button only a thousandth of a second slower with the second McLaren, a tenth faster than Robert Kubica's newly F-ducted Renault. Fernando Alonso, quickest in both the wet and dry on Friday, had to be content with sixth best time (1:46.627), with Felipe Massa (1:46.962) three tenths adrift with the second Ferrari.

Adrian Sutil was a more representative eighth fastest (1:47.064), just a tenth quicker than an impressive Nico Hulkenberg (1:47.160), having his first experience of Spa in an F1 car. Kamui Kobayashi (1:47.296) completed the top 10, marginally quicker than Sauber team mate Pedro de la Rosa.
