Bianchi taken to hospital after accident in Japanese GP

Bianchi in accident at end of Japanese GP

Jules Bianchi has been transported to the Suzuka Central Hospital unconscious after a large accident that ended the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

Track marshals were in the process of removing Adrian Sutil's Sauber-Ferrari, who had previously gone off at the Esses with a tractor when Bianchi went off at high speed at the same point.

Bianchi hit the rear of the tractor and lost conscious. He was then checked at the track medical centre and soon transported by ambulance to Suzuka's Central Hospital

Bianchi was unable to be moved by the medical helicopter, as the weather was deteriorating due to the approaching typhoon Phanfone and the helicopter was unable to fly.

Adrian Sutil said after the race, "What happened to Jules was the same thing that happened to me. The rain was increasing and daylight was going down. I was following Jules and I spun, so I ended up in the wall. I stood up and left the car, so the marshals tried to remove my car. One lap later Jules lost the car, but I have no information about his condition. We are all aware of the situation and, hopefully, he's in good hands."
