Whitmarsh says Paddy Lowe to stay at McLaren for 2013

At McLaren's launch of their new MP4-28, Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh said that Paddy Lowe will stay with the team for 2013.

Lowe has been rumoured to be leaving the team to join Mercedes GP, where he would eventually replace Ross Brawn.

At the event Whitmarsh squashed the rumours for now by saying, "One certainty is that Paddy will be part of the team for another year. It's less certain beyond that. That is something that we will have some certainty on in the near future."

Asked why Lowe was not at the event Whitmarsh said, "Clearly there is a lot of media interest and I think it is good that Paddy concentrates on doing his job. I don't think he wants to create embarrassment to his team or his colleagues, so on his own election he felt it not appropriate to be here."
