Circuit of the Americas secures Moto GP round

The Circuit of the Americas will become the first North American circuit to host two and four-wheel world championship events in the same year when it plays host to a round of the Moto GP series on April 19-21, 2013.

Carmelo Ezpelata, CEO of Moto GP commercial rights holder Dorna Sports, said: "We are excited to be working with Circuit of the Americas to expand our programming in the USA and bring our series to an exceptional new facility in Texas.

"We see tremendous opportunity to market Moto GP and grow its fan base through this agreement and know Circuit of the Americas is the right promoter to help us achieve that goal."

Circuit president Steve Sexton added: "We want to extend our thanks to the Austin Sports Commission for helping to secure another first class event for our city."
